Access Reviews (Scotland)
Purpose. Make everyday access visible—and fixable. We collect short, disability‑first reviews of shops, services, transport and public spaces, then turn patterns into simple asks that organisations can act on quickly.
Who it’s for
Disabled people and supporters; staff and managers who want clear, credible feedback; local authorities, transport providers, and small businesses looking for practical improvements.
What you’ll find
- Quick reviews (3–5 minutes): step‑free info, doors/aisles, seating, lighting/contrast, noise, signage, toilets, staff awareness, queueing/payment.
- Evidence snaps (optional photos) and barrier notes in plain language.
- Good‑practice highlights so we can celebrate what helps.
- Fix lists (ranked by effort vs impact) that a venue can action this month.
- Templates for writing to managers or councils with clear, reasonable adjustments.
How it works
- Visit & note: use the quick checklist; add short notes (what helped / what blocked).
- Submit: send the review (with or without photos).
- Triage: we tag barriers and generate a venue‑specific fix list.
- Share: we publish a short, respectful review and send the fix list to the venue.
- Follow‑up: we check back in 4–8 weeks to record changes and close the loop.
Rating rubric (plain‑speak)
- Accessible now — most people can use it today with minimal friction.
- Usable with adjustments — small, realistic fixes would unlock access.
- Barriers present — significant obstacles; action required to meet duties.
Tone & ethics
Disability‑first and respectful. We name barriers, not people. Reviews are constructive, specific, and actionable. We prefer co‑design with venues to achieve quick wins and visible progress.
Data & privacy
We don’t publish personal details. Photos should avoid faces where possible; otherwise blur or omit. We remove identifying info on request.
